The programme is based around two web seminars looking at the challenges facing the private and public sectors. Thursday 13th March at 3pm Managing risk: The challenges for companies Thursday 17th April at 3pm Managing risk: The challenges for the public sector Event Overview Web seminar 1: Managing risk: The challenges for companies Senior executives – and their shareholders – are increasingly aware of the risks that affect the achievement of corporate objectives, and the complexity of putting plans in place to mitigate those risks. For IT leaders, an understanding of these issues is essential to supporting the business. The potential concerns are multiple and varied. Vital information is at risk from technological threats such as viruses and hackers, and human elements such as errors or insider fraud. The growing regulatory burden makes risk management a central part of good corporate governance. And external threats, such as floods, natural disasters and even terrorism, make business continuity a critical part of any strategy. This Computing web seminar, in association with BT, examines the best practices in managing corporate risk and how they relate to IT. Our panel of experts will discuss the emerging tools and technologies to help companies plan, prepare and overcome the risks to their business, and a real-life case study will look at how one leading organisation has developed a risk management strategy to deliver genuine business benefits.
